Itasca Community College

ICC has partnered with Get Fit Itasca in the past, and continues to be more and more involved in GFI's Active Living for All work through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota's Center for Prevention. In the 2013/2014 school year, ICC piloted a PhotoVoice project within its wellness classes.  In the summer of 2014, ICC installed a new bike shelter with maintenance station to house their bike share program.  In a collaborative effort, ICC will continue to improve its environment to encourage healthy behaviors.

ICC is home to a "bicycle friendly station" complete with shelter, racks, and a public bike repair station.

These amenities compliment the college's new bike share program very well. Students can check out one of the thirty bikes provided for free daily use.  More information on the program can be found at:

The mission of PhotoVoice at Itasca Community College is to build advocacy skills within students using photography as a form of communication. In short, giving students a voice. The students take photos that represent their perceived barriers to healthy living.

Itasca Community College has  been working with the American Lung Association to keep its campus smoke-free since 2008. It was one of the first schools in the area to make this progress.  ICC has also developed a smoking and tobacco policy.
