Itasca Community Garden

The garden is located at the University of Minnesota North Central Research and Outreach Center (1861 E. Hwy 169, Grand Rapids, MN), and is coordinated by Get Fit Itasca. All Itasca community members are welcome to rent plots seasonally. This is a great option for those who don't have the space to garden, or would like to learn how to grow their own food!

 

The garden provides:

  • A tilled, 8' x 10' plot

  • Irrigation and a water spigot

  • Hand-held garden tools

  • A compost area

  • Educational resources

  • Social events

  • Preseason application of fertilizer (cow manure) tilled into the whole garden

 

Gardeners:

  • Rent for $15 for first plot, $10 for each additional plot (financial assistance available)

  • Plant your own selection of seeds and plants

  • Maintain your plot for the season

  • Harvest fresh produce for personal use!

 

The garden season runs from the end of May until mid-October.
